We make our blades from hi-carbon steel stock purchased from New Jersey Steel Baron. No recycled/mystery steel allowed. Experienced working with 1084, 5160, 1095, 15N20, 52100 & 80CRV2. Current favorites are 1095 for visible hamons and 52100 & 80CRV2 for ease of grinding and wicked edges.

Blade Finish
Our knives are meant to be used, so we do not do mirror polished blades. We can provide the following blade finishes or combination of finishes.

Handle Scale Material
We offer scales in wood or micarta as follows.

Handle Scale Finish
We vacuum impregnate low density wood in polyurethane and bake until dry. Highly figured wood is vacuum impregnated with boiled linseed oil to enhance color and figure, and baked until dry. Finish coats may be either polyurethane or boiled linseed oil depending upon the desired sheen. Burlap micarta is sealed with polyurethane.
